PDF Signature Pad
Sign PDFs online free — draw, upload or type your signature and stamp it onto commercial invoices, packing lists, proforma invoices and other EXIM documents. No server uploads — 100% local browser processing.
Quick Answer: What is a PDF Signature Pad?
A PDF signature pad lets you sign a PDF document directly in your browser — draw, upload or type your signature, drag it onto the right spot, and download a flattened, print-ready PDF. This one is built for Indian exporters signing commercial invoices, packing lists, proforma invoices and other EXIM paperwork.
Under Sections 4 and 5 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, electronic records and electronic signatures are legally recognised in India, so your signed PDF carries the same weight as a printed one. The tool runs 100% in your browser — documents are never uploaded to a server — and is free, with no registration. A Class 3 DSC is not needed to sign your trade documents; it is only required for statutory DGFT and ICEGATE filings.
Follow the steps below: upload your document, add your signature, then download the stamped PDF.

Legality of Electronic Signatures on B2B Indian EXIM Paperwork
Under Sections 4 and 5 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (Act 21 of 2000, notified on 17 October 2000 and amended by the IT (Amendment) Act, 2008), electronic records and electronic signatures carry the same legal recognition as paper records and handwritten signatures. Section 4 validates electronic records, Section 5 confirms that a legal requirement to sign is satisfied by a compliant electronic signature, and Section 10A validates contracts formed electronically. The full text is available on India Code.
For international business transactions, standard shipping documents — including commercial and proforma invoices, packing lists, GATT declarations and ocean transport instructions (OTI) — do not require a cryptographically backed Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) at the port-customs stage. Attaching a secure, flattened electronic signature to these documents helps expedite clearance and avoids shipping delays. India's merchandise exports crossed US$ 437 billion in FY 2024-25 (PIB, April 2025), and every one of those shipments was accompanied by signed paperwork — this pad lets you prepare it in minutes, without a printer or scanner.
Important distinction: this pad applies a visual signature image onto your PDF. It does not issue a cryptographic digital signature certificate. For statutory government submissions — DGFT portal applications, ICEGATE user registration, and port AD Code mapping — customs and DGFT require the Class 3 DSC of an authorised signatory (IEC applications may alternatively be completed through Aadhaar-based eSign authentication). See the ICEGATE advisory on digital signatures and the DGFT portal.
Electronic Filing Compliance Guidelines
- Flatten Layer Execution: Ensure all signature annotations are flattened permanently into the PDF document bytes to prevent unauthorized changes or removals by third parties.
- Exact Identity Alignment: Ensure the spelled name of the authorized signatory on the signature matches your active Import Export Code (IEC) registrations.
- Internal Audit Log: Maintain clear records of associated transaction emails to verify the origin and execution of the signature.
Technical & Regulatory Support FAQ
Yes. Under Section 5 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, a legal requirement to sign a document is satisfied by a compliant electronic signature. For commercial invoices, packing lists, and transport instructions, Indian customs authorities accept documents bearing flattened electronic signatures as part of the shipment paperwork. However, statutory government submissions (such as applications on the DGFT portal or port AD Code registrations) require cryptographic verification using a registered Class 3 DSC token.
No. Our B2B Signature Pad operates entirely on client-side technology. The PDF rendering uses your local browser memory, and the PDF modification uses your device's processors via the pdf-lib script library. No data, documents, or signature inputs are transmitted to external servers, ensuring 100% security for your trade documents.
Yes. The PDF Signature Pad is 100% free for personal and commercial use — no registration, login or payment required.
No. This tool applies a visual signature image — drawn, uploaded or typed — directly onto your PDF and flattens it into the page content. A Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is a separate cryptographic token issued by licensed Certifying Authorities under the CCA; it is only required for statutory submissions such as DGFT portal applications and ICEGATE registrations, not for signing your invoice or packing list with this pad.
The pad works with any standard PDF: commercial invoices, proforma invoices, packing lists, GATT declarations, ocean transport instructions (OTI), shipping bills, certificates of origin and other export paperwork. Upload the PDF, place your signature on the correct page, and download the flattened signed copy.
When you download, the signature image is flattened into the PDF page content, so it cannot be removed by simple annotation tools. As with any document, a recipient with full editing software could still alter the file, so keep your own audit trail — the signed copy and the associated transaction emails — for verification.
