How it’s calculated

Formula: GST LUT expiry = 31 March of the financial year in which the LUT is filed (a LUT filed in FY 2025-26 runs through 31 March 2026). Customs bond expiry = Issue date + chosen term (default 24 months). Days left = Expiry − today; % of time elapsed is shown on the progress bar.
Example: A 24-month bond issued on 1 July 2025 expires on 30 June 2027; an LUT filed on 15 January 2026 is valid through 31 March 2026.
What it means: Once an LUT lapses, customs suspends duty-free clearances under GST until you renew; the tracker turns amber with 30–90 days left and red below 30 days, so renew before the window closes to keep zero-duty export clearances running.

Why Tracking LUT and Bond Expiry Matters

Under GST, exporters can clear goods for export without payment of IGST by filing a Letter of Undertaking (LUT). The LUT is valid for the financial year in which it is filed — typically up to 31 March — and must be renewed each year. Missing the renewal means exports attract IGST until a fresh LUT is filed.

A customs bond is used for duty-free imports under schemes such as Advance Authorization, 100% EOU, or provisional clearances at ports. Bonds carry a defined validity and must be renewed or amended with the customs house before expiry, or duty becomes payable.

This tracker keeps both under control with live countdowns, urgency banners and a browser pipeline, so your clearances never get blocked at the port.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I file a multi-year LUT?
Under current GST rules, an LUT is filed for a financial year. Exporters may file for successive years; the tracker defaults LUT validity to 31 March of the relevant FY and lets you adjust.
What happens if my LUT lapses mid-year?
Until a fresh LUT is filed, exports may attract IGST payment at the time of clearance. File the renewal early; most exporters renew in March for the upcoming FY.
How do I renew a customs bond?
Contact your customs house / authorized bank for bond renewal or amendment, typically with a fresh bank guarantee where required. Our team assists with bond execution and renewal liaison.
How long is a GST LUT valid?
A Letter of Undertaking (LUT) filed under GST is valid for the financial year in which it is filed, typically up to 31 March. Exporters must renew the LUT each year to continue exporting without payment of IGST.
What is the difference between LUT and Bond?
A LUT is a letter-based undertaking used to export without paying IGST under GST. A bond is a security-backed undertaking used for customs purposes such as duty-free imports under schemes or provisional clearances, with a defined validity and bank guarantee.
When should I renew my LUT?
Renew before 31 March of the current financial year. File the new LUT on the GST portal for the upcoming FY before the current one lapses to avoid disruption of zero-duty export clearances.
